My Background

My name is Ryan Schummer and I am a Division 1 baseball player, engineering student, and sports broadcaster at Youngstown State University.

I am originally from West Lafayette, Indiana, graduating high school Summa Cum Laude from Central Catholic Jr-Sr High School in 2023.

My first two years of college were spent at Division 3, Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Serving the Community

In 2025 with Youngstown State Baseball, I was able to assist Animal Charities of Boardman, Ohio, in walking their dogs and moving furniture.

Along with that in previous years, I have served food at the homeless shelter and won the Indiana Open State Championship bowling with Champions Together.

Having Fun

On Halloween, our team dressed up for lift in costumes. Pictured is my fellow engineering major, Teddy Ruffner, and I after finishing our lift.

Creating Friendships

Friendships that last a lifetime are one of the most important things and I have found many over my time in college.

Here are two of my best friends that I met at Calvin University, Ryan Tschirhart and Matthew Zrimec, at Ryan's wedding during the summer of 2026.

Creating Memories

Many of the things we are blessed to do as college athletes create brothers for life and memories that last forever. Media day is a special event that gives us the opportunity to express our interests and pose with friends.

Academic Success and Sportsmanship

After winning the 2023 1A Indiana High School Baseball State Championship, I was awarded the Mental Attitude Scholarship.

I am accompanied by my parents Ron and Barb Schummer.
